How It Works

What Makes Our Trips Different

I plan my trips so you don’t have to spend hours researching, booking, or figuring out logistics. Most of my trips are mostly-inclusive — meaning I cover the planning, the transportation local to the destination, the activities, the lodging, and almost everything else.

You may only have one or two meals or activities on your own so you always have the freedom to explore. My goal is simple: you show up, feel safe, feel welcomed, and leave with memories (and friends) you'll never forget.

FAQs

How many people attend each trip?

Our trips are intentionally small so everyone can connect and feel supported. Most groups range from 12–18 people, depending on the destination and activities. We keep things intimate, safe, and community-focused.

Do I need to be experienced?

Nope! Our trips are mostly designed with beginners in mind.
You don’t need any hiking, camping, or travel experience to join us—just an open mind and a willingness to try something new. We share all difficulty levels, trail details, and prep info ahead of time so you feel confident every step of the way.

Can I come alone?

Absolutely. Most of our guests come solo.
Shades of Nature trips are built for connection, so you’ll meet other like-minded people right away. If the trip includes lodging, we’ll pair you with a roommate unless you select a private room (if available).

Are payment plans available?

Yes. You can reserve your spot with a non-refundable deposit, then make scheduled payments leading up to the trip. Each trip page lists the exact payment plan and deadlines so you’ll know what to expect before booking.

What if I have dietary restrictions?

We do our best to accommodate common dietary needs (vegetarian, pescatarian, dairy-free, gluten-friendly, etc.) for any meals that are included in the trip.
You’ll be able to share your dietary restrictions in your post-booking form. While we can’t guarantee completely allergen-free environments, we’ll always do our best to support you.

What’s the refund policy?

All deposits are non-refundable and non-transferable.
If you need to cancel before the final payment deadline, you’ll only forfeit the deposit. Cancellations made after the final payment date may result in partial or full forfeiture of payments, depending on how close to departure the cancellation occurs.
Full details are listed in our Trip Terms & Conditions.

What fitness level is needed?

Most of our trips are beginner-friendly with flexible pacing. You should feel comfortable walking or hiking short distances, but you don’t need to be a seasoned athlete. Each itinerary clearly lists the activity level so you can choose the experience that feels best for you.

Who leads the trips?

Each trip is hosted by Tee (founder of Shades of Nature) along with trusted local guides, drivers, and activity partners. You’ll always have a trip leader available to answer questions, guide you through activities, and make sure everyone feels safe, supported, and included.
